Dr. Xiaopeng Zhang is a professor and a supervisor of PhD candidates in Sino French Lab in Computer Science, Automation and Applied Mathematics (LIAMA), and in National Laboratory of Pattern Recognition (NLPR), Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is an editor of the international journal Transaction on Edutainment, and that of Chinese Stereology and image Analysis. He received his Ph.D. majoring in Computer Graphics in the State key Laboratory of Computer Science, Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in February 1999. He worked as a Post-doc follow of Pattern Recognition and Intelligent systems in Lab. of Complex Systems and Intellignece Science, Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences from March 1999 to March 2001.


He had more than 100 publications and 29 patents. He has lead five projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China and two National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 Program). He was involved in the French ANR projects NATSIM and EMERGE from 2006 to 2012. He was the conference co-Chair of PMA06 (The Second International Symposium on Plant Growth Modeling, Simulation, Visualization and Applications) , the program co-Chair of Edutainment 2008 (the third International Conference on E-learning and Games), PMA09, Edutainment 2010 and VRCAI2011.


His research interests include: Computer graphics and digital geometry specialized in shape information analysis, plant reconstruction and landscape visualization. He teaches the graduate course Computer Graphics and Application in the Graduate University Chinese Academy of Sciences from 2005 up to now. He had advised 20 PhD and master students.
