Organization of LIAMA
History
LIAMA, the Sino-French Laboratory in Computer Science, Automation and Applied Mathematics was created in 1997 by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control (INRIA). Its mission was to promote the cooperation between France and China in these field.
In 2000, the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the French Agricultural Research Center for International Development (CIRAD) joined the Liama.
During this period, in the frame of an annual call for proposals, LIAMA supported a wide range of collaborative Sino-French research projects in various domains, meanwhile increasing research activities were carried on with permanent seniors and students from both countries in the Lab.
A third phase, was initialed at the end of 2004 with the integration of the French National Institute for Research in Agronomy (INRA) and the French Research Institute for GeoSciences (BRGM).
In recent years, LIAMA has put the emphasis on a limited number of projects of stronger critical mass.
